Abstract/Description
The classical low frequency approximation for the inertia force on a 2D submerged body used, for example, in the wellknown Morisons formula, has been extended in Aranha; Pinto [1] to the diffraction regime. In this extension, thegeometric details of the body play an important role and the analytic formulation allows one to pursue the geometricsynthesis of a body with a previously determined response in waves. In the present work, the goal of geometric synthesisis pursued in two directions: the first is mostly academic, by validating the proposed extension by means of numericaland experimental results; the second is mostly practical, by calling the attention to some inherent difficulties encountered n the geometric synthesis of some ideal wave response.
